Campus officially receives Enterprising Britain award

On Monday 1 September Millbrook Technology Campus officially received the award as Enterprising Britain Regional Finalist 2008.

Julie Kapsalis, the Director of Enterprise and Business Support, SEEDA (South East England Development Agency) visited the Millbrook Technology Campus with Helen Cook (Women's Enterprise Manager at SEEDA) to present the award.  Steve Delaney (NXP Semiconductors UK Ltd), David Bream (SetSquared Partnership), and Maureen Tomlinson (Solent Skillquest Ltd) received the award on behalf of the Millbrook Technology Campus.

Enterprising Britain judging visit documentary launched

The official documentary of the Enterprising Britain 2008 judging has now been released. The Millbrook Technology Campus was visited by Peter Jones, entrepreneur and social enterprise ambassador on 25 June, as part of judging the national final of the Enterprising Britain awards. The DVD, which was filmed by students of Southampton Solent University, highlights some of the activities held during the visit.

Southampton campus named one of the most enterprising places in Britain

NXP Semiconductors’ Southampton site has been named one of the most enterprising places in the UK, in the Enterprising Britain competition. A year after opening its gates to high tech companies and local community regeneration schemes, the NXP site, now named the Millbrook Technology Campus, has been recognised by Make Your Mark and Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform (BERR) for its positive impact on business and enterprise in the local community.

On 25th June the competition judges, including entrepreneur Peter Jones (from TV’s The Dragon’s Den), took a tour of the site in preparation for the next round of the competition which will decide the overall winner.

Millbrook Technology Campus announced as South East winner of Enterprising Britain 2008

Millbrook Technology Campus is the winner of Enterprising Britain 2008 for the South East. The campus has been highlighted as a shining example of how enterprise and innovation can bring social regeneration and opportunities that will impact on a community for years to come.

Millbrook Technology campus hosts Solent Synergy meetings

On Wednesday 7 May Millbrook Technology Campus hosted the first of four meetings for Solent Synergy. The meeting addressed the challenges of managing high growth business, and featured presentations from Solent Synergy, Business Link, BDO Stoy Hayward and Southampton University. The meeting also provided valuable networking opportunities for the 40 attending delegates.

Hampshire Ambassadors visit the Millbrook Technology Campus

On Thursday 24 April 35 Hampshire Ambassadors visited the Millbrook Technology Campus. The purpose of the visit was to highlight the work that takes place on site and to promote NXP and Solent Skill Quest.  

During the visit Steve Delaney, Site Services and Quality Manager gave an overview of the campus and NXP. This was followed by a presentation from Angela Wright of Solent Skill Quest about the learning programmes that help young people and adults to develop their employment skills and understanding about the workplace.

The presentations were well received and the overall impression of the campus was very positive. One of the Ambassadors summed up the feelings of the group.  “The attention we received from the parking, through reception, buffet lunch and service, presentations and tour were first class and all undertaken with such a pleasant manner. They really seemed pleased we had come!  I am sure you will tell them but I would rate it overall one of the best Ambassador visits”.

Millbrook Technology Campus highlights positive practices in campus development

On Friday 29 February delegates from Nijmegen City Council and Region met with key personnel who have been instrumental in building the Millbrook Technology Campus in Southampton.
The event, which was designed to create an opportunity for Nijmegen and Southampton economic and business development teams to meet together on an NXP site for the purpose of networking and exchanging knowledge.  NXP Nijmegen are looking to build on lessons learnt at the Millbrook Technology Campus, and incorporate them into the development of the Novio Tech Campus in Nijmegen, Netherlands.
